PALMDALE (CBSLA) — A naked suspect who was carrying a knife, reportedly plowed his car into a Palmdale fast food restaurant Sunday afternoon before stabbing a customer at an adjoining eatery.
Preliminary reports say the suspect was then shot by a guard who worked at a McDonald’s after plowing into a Carl’s Jr.
Initial reporting, that turned out to be erroneous, said the man plowed into the McDonald’s and was shot by the guard at Carl’s Jr.
The incident played out on 25th Street and Ave. S.
The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital. Sunday evening, the suspect was declared dead.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident and looking for a motive.
The suspect — described initially as a shirtless Latino — was reportedly shot three times after brandishing a knife.
KCAL9’s Brittney Hopper said investigators told her that the suspect was actually naked when he began the bizarre attack.
Officials said the naked man stabbed a customer in the McDonald’s before the guard shot him.
The stabbed customer (an 88-year-old man who was eating with his grandson) and the 29-year-old suspect were both taken to a hospital.
Witnesses said it all happened so fast.
“I seen a man standing right here,” said witness Irvin Diaz, “and all I heard was pop, pop. And I came over and saw this man on the ground. He was naked, holding his stomach.”
Hopper was told the customer is expected to be okay.
